The Forbes M+A Group Advises Lighting Analysts on Its Sale to TA Associates

Company becomes part of newly formed entity, Revalize, the only global, at-scale provider of sector-specific manufacturing software solutions.

Denver, Colorado (December 1, 2021) – The Forbes M+A Group (Forbes), a leading middle market transaction advisory firm, served as the exclusive advisor to Lighting Analysts, Inc. earlier this year in its acquisition by private equity firm, TA Associates. Lighting Analysts, the author of industry standard tools used in architectural lighting applications, joins Revalize, a grouping of software platforms orchestrated by TA Associates. Revalize provides manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and agents with tools that enable sellers of configurable products to apply, quote, and sell engineered products.

“We knew this would be a robust and competitive process and were confident that the Forbes team would do a great job for us,” said Lighting Analysts Cofounder, Todd Saemisch. “They reached out to both national and international targets, found the right buyer, and the deal was done quickly.”

Added David Speer, also Cofounder, “Forbes recognized that our small team is capable of doing big things in a global market and drove valuation that exceeded our expectations. We couldn’t be happier with the Forbes team!”

Dan Pellegrino and Garit Lawson, Managing Directors at the Forbes M+A Group, provided M&A advisory for Lighting Analysts. “We didn’t just go for the typical buyer. We recognized that we were addressing a small niche of ideal buyers and thus positioned the business to reflect value above and beyond simply dollars and cents. We targeted buyers capable of looking deeper than the numbers to understand the true value of Lighting Analysts’ reputation and market share,” explained lead Forbes advisor, Dan Pellegrino. “When TA emerged as a buyer, it was clear that Lighting Analysts would be a great fit in their investment portfolio and consequently a perfect landing spot.”

Garit Lawson added, “It was such an honor to work with these two cofounders to take the baby they started in a garage in 1984 to a place that’s way beyond their expectations for growth. Helping our clients through the lows and highs that come with any process like this is why we do what we do. We don’t just think of Dave and Todd as clients, we consider them friends!”

Forbes’ Lighting Analysts advisory team also included Associate, Cassie Dobos, and Analyst, John Kiernan
