Gary Grange, a Managing Director at The Forbes M+A Group, has more than 32 years of diverse operational and transactional experience, and he has successfully concluded more than 80 transactions. His areas of expertise include fast-track timing, deal structuring, due diligence requirements management, negotiation of real value in the marketplace, and coordination of critical advisors to ensure the effectiveness of transactions. His industry experience includes outdoor recreational products manufacturing; industrial machinery manufacturing; specialty chemicals; IT consulting and services; software development and marketing; professional business services; heavy hauling and transportation; heavy road construction and excavating; aggregate, asphalt, and concrete building materials; and drilling support and fluid logistics for oilfield services.
Throughout his career, Gary has owned and managed successful businesses in the fields of real estate, software design, technical staffing, and recreational facility operation. At the start of his career, he was Management Consultant for 11 years with Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young) based in Germany and Denver, managing an international team of consultants advising clients throughout Europe on IT solutions, organizational development, and merger and acquisition strategies.
Next, he was partner and founder of M&A Consultants, Inc., a Denver-based M&A advisory firm representing European acquirers targeting U.S. industries and completing transactions ranging from $20 million to over $200 million in value. The firm was an organizer of one of the first U.S./European mid-market advisory member networks, M&A International, Inc. Gary was later National Vice President of Operations for Corporate Finance Associates, Inc., an international merger and acquisition firm headquartered in Denver with more than 60 offices nationwide.
From 1992 to 2012, Gary was Executive Vice-President and Managing Director at International Business Group Ltd., Denver (IBG). There, he successfully concluded more than 80 transactions, selling privately owned companies in a variety of industries with valuations up to $20 million. In addition, he worked with other IBG account managers to direct client engagements and create cooperative marketing success. He also played a significant role in the development of the firm’s services and attainment of IBG’s position as a national leader in closing transactions for private mid-market business owners.
Following his 20-year career with IBG, Gary joined The Forbes M+A Group as a senior advisor in December 2012. At The Forbes M+A Group, he develops, negotiates, and closes M&A transactions and capital formation transactions on behalf of seller and buyer organizations.
Gary graduated with a B.S. degree from Iowa State University. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Colorado and a member of Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), Denver chapter.
Gary has been a Colorado resident since 1973 and enjoys mountaineering, backcountry skiing, mountain biking, and scuba diving. He served as State President of the Colorado Mountain Club and is a member of the American Alpine Club. His wife, Judy, is a registered nurse specializing in public school health.
